How to interpret a tuition requirement

A tuition requirement is a parent’s description of what they need — not a formal job offer. These are the details that matter most when you decide whether to make contact.

  • Class or grade: the level tells you which syllabus and teaching approach is likely. “Class 10” usually means board-exam preparation; “Class 3” usually means foundational work.
  • Subjects: a listing may ask for one subject or several. Check the subject list before assuming a general science or commerce role.
  • Tuition type: home tuition needs travel to the locality; online tuition needs a reliable setup on both sides. “Home or online” means the parent is open to discussion.
  • Location: city and locality are shown publicly. For home tuition, estimate the real travel time at the hours you would teach, not at a quiet mid-afternoon.
  • Timing and budget: these are preferences, not commitments. Confirm the weekly schedule, session length and fees clearly before starting.
  • Additional requirements: learning goals, board names or special needs appear in the notes. Read them carefully — they are often the deciding factor.
Before you apply

Four checks that save time

Is it still current?

Compare the posted date with today. Requirements can be filled before they expire.

Can you commit?

Check the preferred days and times against your existing schedule.

Is the level right?

Be honest about the classes, boards and subjects you can teach well.

Will you apply properly?

Apply through the form and wait to be contacted. Never try to find a family’s number another way.

A listing’s presence does not mean the family is still available. Always confirm the arrangement with the parent before travelling, and never share a parent’s number with anyone else.

Availability

Why listings appear and disappear

CityTutor Classified keeps the public list deliberately narrow. A requirement is visible only while it is approved, published and not past its expiry date. This reduces wasted calls for tutors and unwanted contact for parents.

  • Pending: submitted but not reviewed. Not visible publicly.
  • Published: approved and active. Shown in search and filters.
  • Closed: the tuition has been arranged or the parent asked to stop contact. No longer shown.
  • Expired: the listing passed its expiry date. No longer shown.
  • Rejected or removed: not published, or taken down after review.

Reporting

Seen something wrong?

Each listing has a “Report this listing” action. Use it if a requirement looks inaccurate, duplicated, abusive or out of date. Reports are reviewed by the site owner, who can edit, close or remove the listing and record the decision.

What to include

Choose the closest reason and add only the detail needed to explain the problem. Do not post someone else’s phone number, address or other personal information in a report.

Reports are rate-limited to prevent abuse. Submitting the same report repeatedly does not make it faster to review.

City guide

Finding home tuition jobs in Delhi and Mumbai

Delhi and Mumbai are very different teaching markets, and travel is usually the deciding factor. These notes are practical guidance for using the filters — not claims about how many jobs or tutors exist in either city.

Tuition jobs in Delhi

Delhi requirements can be spread across Dwarka, Rohini, Uttam Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Janakpuri, Saket, Pitampura, Karol Bagh, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash, Malviya Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Shahdara and Paschim Vihar, among others. A requirement in Dwarka and one in Laxmi Nagar can be an hour apart, so filter by locality and judge the trip at the time you would actually teach.

If you teach board-exam classes, read the class and notes carefully for the school board (CBSE, ICSE or a state board) and for the specific topics the parent mentions. A listing labelled “Class 10 Science” does not tell you which board or which chapters by itself.

Home tuition jobs in Mumbai

Mumbai requirements often name Andheri East or West, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon, Powai, Bandra, Dadar, Chembur, Mulund, Santacruz, Lower Parel, Juhu, Ghatkopar, Thane or Navi Mumbai. Distance on a map is not travel time: a short trip can take much longer at peak hours, and some families prefer online tuition for that reason.

Check whether the listing is home tuition, online tuition or either before you call. If it is online, confirm the platform and the student’s device situation. If it is home tuition, agree the locality, the weekly slots and how fees are handled before the first lesson.

Browse Mumbai requirements

Thane and Navi Mumbai are separate areas from the island city; filter by locality rather than assuming a “Mumbai” listing is nearby. We do not create locality pages, and an empty filter result simply means no approved requirement currently matches.

Questions and answers

Browsing tuition requirements: common questions

Practical answers for tutors using the listings page. For the parent’s side of the process, see the posting guide.

Do I need an account to browse open tuition jobs?

No. The listings page is public and every published requirement can be searched and filtered without registering, logging in or paying. There is no tutor account to create and no profile to maintain.

How do I contact a parent about a tuition requirement?

Use the Apply button on the listing and complete the short application form. Only the parent who posted that requirement can see your name, number and application. Parent phone numbers are never published, so there is no number to call on the listing and you should not try to find one elsewhere.

Why is there no phone number on any listing?

By design. CityTutor never publishes a parent’s phone number and never sends it to tutors. Tutors apply through the site instead, and the parent decides whether to contact them. This protects families from unsolicited calls and keeps every conversation within a recorded application.

What do the filters do?

Keyword search looks at the listing title, subjects, city, locality and notes. The city, locality, class, subject and tuition-type filters narrow the results further. Results are always ordered newest first, and only approved, active, non-expired requirements are included.

Why has a listing disappeared?

Listings stop appearing when they are closed by the moderator, reach their expiry date, are removed after a report, or are rejected during review. Only published and active requirements are shown, so an old link may no longer work.

Where can tutors find home tuition jobs in Delhi or Mumbai?

Use the city filter on this page and choose Delhi or Mumbai, then narrow by locality, class, subject and tuition type. Every result has been approved and is still active. The number of listings depends on genuine parent submissions, so an empty result means nothing is currently published for that combination — not that jobs are being hidden.

Can I find a CBSE or ICSE tuition requirement in Delhi or Mumbai?

Parents can mention the school board in the requirement notes, and many do. The board is not a separate verified attribute, so read the notes before assuming a CBSE, ICSE, ISC, IGCSE or state-board requirement. CityTutor Classified does not verify a tutor’s qualifications or a school’s affiliation.

How do I report an inaccurate or outdated listing?

Open the listing and choose “Report this listing”. Reports are rate-limited, reviewed by the site owner, and can lead to the listing being corrected, closed or removed. Do not include another person’s private information beyond what is needed to explain the problem.
