Terms of use

These terms explain how CityTutor Classified may be used, what parents and tutors are responsible for, and how listings are moderated. They are written to match the features that actually exist on this site.

1. Using this website

By using CityTutor Classified, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. The site is operated as an independent online project; these terms do not represent a company registration or a regulated professional service.

2. What the service is

CityTutor Classified is a free classifieds noticeboard for tuition requirements. Parents and guardians may publish a requirement; tutors may browse published requirements and apply for them through the site. Applications are visible only to the parent who owns the requirement, and a parent phone number is never published.

The service is not a tutoring agency, an employer, a recruitment consultancy, a payment processor, or a marketplace that arranges lessons. It does not set fees, collect payments, supervise lessons, or verify qualifications.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or a parent/guardian acting for a student, to submit a requirement or use the contact form. The site is not intended for children to use independently.

4. Parents’ and guardians’ responsibilities

  • Submit accurate information about the class, subjects, locality and timing.
  • You are designated as responsible for your own data-privacy choices and for the personal information you submit. The website administrator is not designated as responsible for those choices.
  • Use a phone number you are entitled to share with the platform, and understand that it is used for messages about the requirement and for moderation — it is never published.
  • Do not include a child’s full name, exact address, identity documents or other unnecessary identifying details.
  • Assess tutors yourself — including experience, references, safety and suitability — before allowing lessons.
  • Ask for a listing to be closed or removed when the tuition is arranged or no longer needed.

5. Tutors’ and teachers’ responsibilities

  • Represent your experience and qualifications truthfully.
  • Apply for requirements through the site rather than attempting to contact a family directly.
  • Do not pressure, harass, spam or repeatedly contact a family that is not interested.
  • Never share, resell or reuse a parent’s phone number, and do not add it to marketing lists.
  • Agree fees, schedule, cancellation and safety arrangements directly and clearly with the parent.

6. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Post false, misleading, duplicate, spam or fraudulent requirements.
  • Impersonate another person, or publish someone else’s contact details without their permission.
  • Harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse any person.
  • Publish illegal content, malware, phishing links or content that infringes another person’s rights.
  • Scrape, harvest or bulk-collect contact information, or use automated tools to bypass rate limits, form tokens or other protections.
  • Attempt to access administrative areas, other users’ data, or the database without authorization.

7. Listing review, rejection, expiry and removal

Every submission is stored as pending and reviewed manually. We may edit, publish, reject, close, expire or remove a listing. Publication is not guaranteed, and no review time is promised.

Published listings expire automatically (45 days after approval by default, as configured by the owner) and can be closed earlier. Removed or expired listings are no longer publicly visible. Repeated or near-identical submissions may be rejected as duplicates.

Reporting a listing does not remove it automatically. A report is reviewed by the site owner, who decides whether to correct, close or remove the listing.

8. Contact details and consent

A parent’s phone number is never shown publicly and is never returned by a public API. Tutors apply for a requirement instead, and only the parent who posted it can see those applications. The parent decides whether to contact a tutor.

Anyone who obtains contact details through an application must use them only to discuss the specific tuition requirement. Misuse may result in removal and a report to the appropriate authority.

9. No guarantees

  • No guarantee that a tutor will contact a parent.
  • No guarantee of tutoring work, income or employment for a tutor.
  • No guarantee of a successful match or learning outcome.
  • No verification of qualifications, backgrounds or school affiliation.
  • No guarantee of uninterrupted availability of the website.

10. Reporting a problem

Use the report action in a listing, or the contact form. Include the listing reference if you have it. Do not include another person’s unnecessary personal information in a report.

Reports are rate-limited, reviewed privately, and resolved by the site owner.

11. Your content

You keep ownership of the text you submit. You grant the site owner permission to store, review, edit for moderation, publish and display that content for the purpose of operating the tuition classifieds service. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.

The site’s own design, text, illustration and code are original work and may not be copied or republished without permission.

12. Availability and changes

Features may change, and the site may be unavailable for maintenance. Listings may expire, be closed or be removed. These terms may be updated; the date at the top will change only when the content is genuinely revised. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.

13. Liability

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site owner is not responsible for the conduct of parents or tutors, the accuracy of a listing, the quality or safety of lessons, or losses arising from arrangements made between users. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of India. Any specific court or dispute-resolution forum has not been designated in this build and must be confirmed by the owner with legal advice.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact form. Choose “General inquiry” for questions about the terms, or “Privacy request” for data-related requests.

Legal review still recommended. These terms are written for a free, manually moderated classifieds service and describe the implemented behaviour. They are not legal advice. The operator is designated as the data fiduciary in the privacy notice and answers privacy requests within the published periods; the owner should still have these terms reviewed by a qualified Indian legal adviser and confirm any consumer-protection or intermediary obligations that apply.
